I thought the sunlight made the poplars stand out like golden sentinels against the slate-blue colored sky of a storm, some distance from where I was in Kah Tai Lagoon Park. Herons are seen frequently "hiding out" below the foot bridge. I wondered if this fellow thought I couldn't see him as he stayed there, standing quietly in the bridge's shadow. He doesn't show up right away for the viewer, but that is the way herons are in a location like Kah Tai Lagoon Park. Kah Tai Park is in Port Townsend, WA
behind the Safeway store. It is a peaceful place that I love to
visit, and is just a short walk from the Port Townsend ferry
terminal.
